For some people, Christmas is anything but merry. In fact, the meaning of this day, to some, means buying gifts that recipients won't like or appreciate; over-drafted bank accounts; a higher number of credit card transactions; a reminder about not having a significant other; pressure about giving gifts; disappointment of seeing everyone else walk around with new items while they have none; the inevitable participation in the "most expense gift competition"; guilt about spending extra money that they really don't have; and thoughts about their lost loved ones.
Wait a minute- has Christmas lost its true meaning?? I've heard it said that "Tis' the season of giving" but for giving what? Time, talents, presents, love, attention? I've also heard it said that the best things in life are free. Well, if that's the case then why all of the commotion?
Now I'm not a bible scholar but I haven't found anyplace in the bible where it mentions that Jesus ever gave presents- not even to His mother. Nor does it mention anything about Him receiving birthday presents or anything for that matter. In fact, from what I've read, Jesus did the giving all year around: He gave sight to the blind; the ability to walk to the lame; healing to the sick & insane; life to the dead; forgiveness; and more. You can feel free to prove me wrong by responding. I'm not always right but I accept the challenge with scriptures to back it up.
Until then, remember that leaders must prioritize and remember what matters most- LOVE!
Happy Holidays!!! Love ya. Your sister in Christ- Brenda Join Royalty at www.meetup.com/Royalty
