Understand that some people are poisonous to your destiny. So often we feel like just because someone wants to be on our company that means that we need to take the bait but, as leaders, we must be careful about the company we keep as most poison kill people. Indicators of poisonous people include those who: slander others, work to ruin reputations, can't keep a secret, work against your purpose (eg, you ministry audience is women but your friend keeps trying to convince you that women start trouble), rebellious attitude, prideful ways, they remind you of your faults or reasons why it can't be done, and they are also people who are distractions (eg, you want to write but they want you to go out to the club).
